I am a keen supported of the Icelandic takeover thus far. They have dealt amicably with everything thing they have had thrown at them these past couple of seasons. The PR qualities that they have shown have so far been better than we have ever been used to.
Here is my concern however.
When Magnusson was chairman, yes he made some serious budgeting mistakes and yes he had a funny looking head. But one thing he made sure to deal with appropriately was his dealing with Terrence Brown.
He withdrew any benefits that Brown had at the club and also made it known that he didn’t deserve any of those benefits. He did his best to eliminate any remnants of Brown’s ‘empire’ over the club. Most importantly, through his actions, he made it known to Brown, to the fans and to the rest of the footballing world that Terrence was no longer welcome at our club.
Brown being Brown though came crawling back claiming that it was “unfair” that we had taken away his parking space at the ground. And, to the club he “supports”, took out legal action. I think most fans, no matter what breed, were pretty suprised at his barefaced cheek.
The club have released this statement regarding the matter
The settlement brings to an end all outstanding disputes between the two parties.
It is time to move on from old disputes and legal battles. My focus, and that of the whole Board, is on the future. To do that we need to draw a line under past issues and also recognise that what matters is building a successful football club.
Yes BG, this is all very true and very honorable. Definitely something that as fans we want to hear.
Here is my concern however, the next part of BG’s comment:
Terry Brown has a long history with West Ham United as former Chairman and leading shareholder and there is no reason for the club and Terry to be at odds with each other. We have settled our differences and Terry will be a welcome guest at the club as we move forward into the new season
No BG, this is not at all true. There is a definite reason for us to be at odds with Brown. He happily sold any decent asset that came out of the club, he then nearly financially ruined our club, he then got us involved in potentially the most fraudulent signature ever ‘made’…and then had the cheek to sue us.
He is not welcome at our club as we move forward into the new season.
Brown is obviously delighted with the news and reckons that:
I will again have an opportunity to show my support for the club.
That’s right Terrence, you can now show your support for the club. Loyalty right there. Basically he has just said that he only supports us when he is filling his pockets with our money. If he stops getting anything out of us, then of course he no longer supports us.
So why has BG rolled over to this? I understand that the case did have to be resolved in some way or another, but it doesn’t mean that Brown is welcome at the club.
Eggert made the right decision in the first place with his hardline approach….Brown you are not welcome at our club anymore.
The right way to put the past behind us it to let him back in the ground, cruising around with a smug little grin in his Bentley with number plate 7URD.
I haven’t even moved onto the fact that Kia has been employed by us….
Are my concerns shared?
Sam

great contribution tony!
that means that you excuse what brown did to our club…you think it is ok for him to sue us?
i don’t understand why BG hasn’t just held his ground and kept brown away.

Maybe we should allow Brown back into our club as long as he pays the £5.2m fine we recieved because of his ignorance on the Tevez saga and that Brown will be willing to pay any further damages we may get in September when the court brings out its verdict, and then and only then could we slightly forgive TB.

spot on Joe
how much should we be not living in the past when we are handed another great big wapping fine from sheff utd?
it’s because of his actions that we are in a mess, how can we forget that?

Who knows maybe Terrence Brown holds the Key for our Court Case with Sheffield United?, remember Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson is a very clever man and maybe he feels sheffield united can claim a few millions of us in September so to keep the claims minimal getting Terrence Brown on side will help our case as he can provide evidence and his side of the story.

My acquiescence with Lee’s comments couldn’t be more whole-hearted.
I am of the notion that our Icelan-dic head is ‘conversely’ an extremely accomplished and astute businessman. ‘That’ first and foremost; which could be a concern for the future….hmmmmm.
With this in mind though, could it be instead, a very shrewd machination, to deal the hypocrytical ‘Blunts’ a final knock-down blow, by re-hiring Kia; unbeleivable in itself, and now to appease T.B, who let’s face it, is as about as welcome at the club as his diseased initials might suggest.
This is the Blunts ‘final’ opportunity to extort farcical compensation. Could be a masterstroke.
It almost reminds me of the Godfather Part 2: where instead of ‘murdering’ all possible witnesses, which of course and unfortunately you can’t do today, ermmmmmm… that is, unless you surname happens to be SHINAWATRA (Oh boy, are they in for some sort of future implosion – GOOD!), could Guddy have taken both of them calmly and unwittingly under his wing, just to financially murder them later?
He could really do that. Get the Blunts case out of the way, and axe the pair of them without a sniff of the Claret and Blue, hard-earned penny !
It’s either that, or I’m just dreaming at this point, that this could possibly transpire
.
My ‘actual’ dreams however, consist of more bellicose swarthyness. We ‘could’ ermmm…..uhhhh… build an anachronistic, wooden scaffold on the centre circle at Upton Park.
I could then very easily envisage a full (Paying) capacity crowd over the Boleyn, just to observe a richly deserved spectacle of double beheading. Well they do it in Iran, Kia !!!
Further to this, despite the credit crunch, Guddy still has a sloshing bucket of personal dosh, which could easily afford him Brammal Lane, and the entirety of that shite, McCabe’s assets. He is considerably richer than Yo, McCabe.
The then derelict
site could easily be transformed into an NCP carpark, or maybe the World’s largest public urinal – I’d pay to dump my mess there – or even a new home for Wednesday ! Marvellous.
The mind boggles.
Ok, I’m ranting………Though, I ‘just’ want to see the Blunts get NADA, a precipitate counter-suit, no matter how much it costs, and McCabe and Bean banged up for villification.
Yeah, I really do want to see those whinging tossrags lose everything, but I’m not bitter or anything
To augment this, I yearn for West Ham to win something off the pitch for a change. We’ve been the brunt of the F.A and Premier League’s unjust retributions for far too long. And everyone elses it seems !
Remember Hartson and Berkovich – now take a retrospective glance at Adebayour and Bendtner, infront of 35000 Spuds, and a global Sky audience – NOTHING DOING !!!
Ermmm….let’s win on the pitch too, you Hammers. Injured are back, no excuses, let’s have it !
Comon You Irons !

don’t let that son of a bitch terence brown anywhere near west ham again if anything he should be paying us compensation not the other way round and if sheffield united want to sue someone they should sue him not us and especially after almost making west ham bankrupt a number amount of times magnusson did the right thing in saying he weren’t welcome at west ham. p.s up the hammers

With all due respect, wasn’t it exactly how Eggy dealt with Brown which has caused this problem in the first place? Not saying he was wrong, but maybe a bit hasty with Brown and now BG has to clean up?

i think there is a solution to this mess, all you need is a quality sniper on the roof of the school from about 1.30pm on match day. you’re guaranteed about 34,800 fans who will swear they saw nothing except every other fan dancing on the bonnet of some dead bloke’s bentley.

I think Brown should have his parking space back, as long as the ‘Centenary Stand Lower’ know where it is.
