Curbishley In For Thatcher: Barton To Follow [VIDEO]

So, it’s Sunday. And as a rule of thumb, I try not to post on Sundays.

But Ben Thatcher playing yesterday against Villareal has really ruffled my proverbial feathers. Seriously Curbishley, is this a wind-up?

I thought that when he played against Bishop’s Stortford that would be it. He would just be another unwanted trialist who was out of the door before you could say ‘malicious elbow to the face’.

But no.

West Ham do not need to be associated with players like Ben Thatcher. (I would just like to emphasise my use of the word ‘player’ there. I don’t know him personally to judge what he is like as a human but from what I know of him from the football field he is of a somewhat thuggish nature)

I think that yesterday when he played, the fans who made it clear he wasn’t welcome at Upton Park were well within their rights. And I think that Curbs has spoken out to defend him is a complete mockery.

Incase you missed it, he said this:

I was disappointed with their reaction and didn’t really understand it.

How on Earth can he not understand it?

Curbishley, here is a small clip to whet your viewing appetite and maybe open your eyes to why we infact are considerably against the signing of Thatcher (and if you care to read a few of the more finer details as to this masterclass in thuggery, CLICK HERE):

So there you have it…what a shining example of a true professional.

And being completely honest this guy could be as good as Kaka for all I care, I still wouldn’t welcome him to Upton Park.

In a brief conclusion, it is apparant that Curbishley has absolutely zero ability in attracting any decent players to our club. Shorey (not that I wanted him in the first place) has ended up at Villa. And if you remember, Darren Bent chose Spurs over us also. Just to name a couple.

We are in clear need of a replacement left-back and all Curbishley and his team of superstar talent spotters can muster up is a has-been thug who has no place in the game of football let alone a West Ham shirt.

So while your at it Curbs, I’m sure Barton would welcome a new home…apparently he’s a nice boy when you get to know him.

I really could go on with this rant as I am genuinely annoyed. But I’ll stop now before I go and say something like “as for Curb’s PR ability….or, is Curbishley pursuing a team wholly made up of ex-Charlton players?”

  1. it seems curbs lives in his own little world. he still plays boa morte every chance he gets and he’ll probably sign this thug as well and totally disregard everyone’s feelings on the matter right up until he makes the club look bad which is inevitable. i won’t be going this year, i haven’t renewed my season ticket and won’t be going again until this ignorant fool of a manager has been thrown out. west ham’s loss is dagenham and redbridge’s gain though, come on you daggers!!

  2. it’s a disgrace. i booed him yesterday. there’s no place for a player like him in our claret and blue shirts. curbs needed to do something to win the fans over – he’s doing the opposite. get them both out.

  5. Fair point. It’s like in a nightmare, when you meet Curbs in a pub and are just about to speak to him of all the players you want in claret and blue. And he says: Shhhh.. “I’ll tell you somtehing. I want Ben Thatcher, he is a tremendous guy!” And all of a sudden you wake up in coldsweat… But this seems to be in full daylight… “he can’t understand it….”. Out of order!

  7. If Thatcher is not considered good enough for whatever reason by championship clubs why ever are a club such as West Ham giving him trials.

  8. The facts are that BG wants £9m asap to balance the books!
So not only is Curbs looking at the likes of Thatcher, if he cannot raise the money by selling off LBM,Mullins,Gabbidon,Davenport,et al he will have to sell Ashton,Ferdinand,Neill or Green!
Now, under that pressure who do you think he will be trying to sign?
I am no fan of Curbishley, but he is the manager of my club and he is expected to raise money and fill holes in the team.

  10. freddyfreddy ~ I agree with your sentiment, but Curbishley is being hung out to dry by an incompetant ceo (the dregs of the Brown regime)and a chairman who has found the kitchen a tad too hot for his liking due to the fact he left a bald alien in charge of his chequebook last season!
What I don’t like about this whole affair is that a thug being bought in as temporary cover is really an insignificance compared to the fact that the board have no confidence (as do most of us) in Curbishley, but they are going to waste another season with him rather than replacing him earler this summer and getting someone else in.

  11. very true indeed martin….i think the possibility that we may be forced to sign someone like thatcher speaks volumes about things that are currently unspoken….i think.

it was mentioned on this site some time ago…something to do with dangerous undercurrents or the like. maybe sam just had a point!!
