Was there a sniper at Anfield last night?

Before we review the video footage of the sniper at Anfield last night, can I quickly mention how impressed I was (once again!) with the performance of our boys last night.

Like Sunderland, it was always going to be a tough place to go and get a result of any kind. The defence once again stepped up the mark and played out of their skins which obviously had a lot to do with it, but the general attitude of work rate and desire as a team was really what stood out to me.

If we can now work on what we have seen these last few games and move on to converting the chances that we do get, there is not doubt in my mind that we have the potential to move on to a UEFA cup spot. Everyone seems to be writing us off at the moment saying how we are so close to the relegation zone and that Zola just isn’t cutting it. There was even an article in the Liverpool programme saying that had Zola lost last night, it may have been his last game in charge….

What a load.

Anyways, back to this elusive sniper….here’s the video evidence, make of it what you will:

  1. I’m also impressed by the work rate of most players but I must say that I am less than impressed by our total lack of ability to control the ball, pass the ball or keep possession.
Also frustrating is the inability to get the ball out of the congested areas!
This may improve with the return of the self confidence, but at the moment is way below par!
We had 33% possession and gave the ball away way to much.
We cannot hope to be able to hang on to a score if we let the other team come at us again and again.

    17 corners, 25 shots…

Im very pleased with the result but not with our game.
