So in a week that could quite happily degrade into obscurity unnoticed, there have been a couple of pieces of news that particularly caught me eye…and I’m also going to be running another competition!
No Standing, No Noise, No Fun
A discovery by The Spoiler this week has unearthed something that both suprised me, and made me laugh a whole lot more! It’s a letter written to Middlesbrough supporters after the club received complaints about them standing up, and if there was a top ten list of worst-worded letters ever, this would be well up there. Here are a couple of my favourite snippets below, and you can see the full letter here
The letter opens with the following:
“The club are grateful of, and encourage you noisy passionate support….I know when the action is exciting and the team are shooting at the North end of the ground the instinct of every fan is to stand, I do not want to stop you doing this, but then please sit down”
The best bit….
“I am receiving more and more complaints from our own fans also seated in this area about both the persistant standing and the constant banging and noise coming from the back of the stand. Please stop, make as much noise as you like when we score, but this constant noise is driving some fans mad”
They will all be sitting down quietly for 90 mins tomorrow in that case…..
Curbishley was going to sell Collison
The other piece of news that caught my eye was that Curbishley was apparently going to sell Jack Collison to Peterbrough for a mere £300,000.
I don’t think much else needs to be said about that, apart from a great big thank you to the person who thought that maybe it wasn’t in the club’s best interest to do so.
Competition Time!
So I have one last copy of West Ham United: In My Day Vol. 2
, signed by Frank McCavennie to give away. To enter the competition, all you have to do is subscribe to my blog using the box below. Just stick your email in if you would like to be part of the draw. You will get regular blog updates, including any live streams that I am able to provide you with each week – no spam and no advertising, just regular news and opinion from me and the other writers here at The West Ham Process. The closing date for entries is the end of the first week of March and the winner will be contacted by email….
(current subscirbers are already in the draw)
Huge game tomorrow, would love to hear from any of you that are going up by coach, according to the official site, there should be a large proportion of the Riverside filled with West Ham fans – standing, singing and generally making as much noise as we possibly can!
