LucasAid. Because he’s worth it.
As you are probably aware if you read my site regularly that I’m keen to help support the occasional charity from time to time.
The latest charity has come to my attention is called LucasAid, and I think it will be great if we can all club together to help support this cause who is in dire need of a cash injection. You may me aware of a guy called Lucas Neill…commonly remembered for his average performances during the course of the last couple of season, culminating in a slight peak as his contract was running to an end. He may very well have offered an extra dimension as captain, but due to indecision on his part has since been replaced in that role.
Lucas’ contract ended in July and he has been out of work since. West Ham, his former employers, offered him a misely renewed contract of just around £40k per week – singnificantly lower than than the small fortune he was previously being paid. I think it would be a great gesture on our part to do what we can to help generate the extra £25k a week for the remainder of the contract offered by West Ham to ensure that this integral figure in West Ham’s history and future remains at the club.
Because we’re not already lining his pockets and haven’t done for the past few years. I cannot believe the arrogance and cheek of someone who thinks he can hold our club to ransom, demanding higher wages as if he is Mr West Ham. He has done sod all throughout the summer, he’s not been with the team during pre-season and was frankly sluggish and lacking pace at the end of last year anyway. The guy turns like a battleship and I am genuinely furious that he thinks he can stamp his feet and hold out for an offer based on what he thinks he is worth.
How about the fans decide your wages sunshine and then maybe you’ll crashing down to earth and understand better how we, the fans who pay you, actually value the contribution of an egotistical transfer bandit.
Shock. To. The. Proverbial. System.
Perhaps I’m completely wrong on this one – would certainly be interesting to guage other people’s views, but frankly I’d rather resign Jimmy Walker and play him at right back, at least he would be here to play for the shirt and not to make a quick buck before he retires. He certainly would not hold the club and subsequently the fans, to ransom.
Dean Ashton Poll Results
On a different note, here’s the results of the poill that I posted the other day asking whether or not we should sell Dean Ashton:
From 420 votes
- 64% of peope say we should not sell Deano
- 36% of people say we should
The voting is still open here, and the comments are particularly interesting
IRONS
Sam

Not much I can add to that Sam apart from well said.
The only commitment he is showing is to his own ego and bank balance. Hopefully we are well rid of him as he is just taking the urine

We should ammend the contract currently on the table. Ie halve it
Vastly over rated, over the hill and unfortunately, still over here
If Parker or Behrami were in the same boat I’d be far more sympathetic
But I’ve seen milk turn quicker than Lucas. The bloke’s a liability

I was relieved when Lucas’s contract was up as it was the end of a big liability for the club. Apart from the fact that the team bus turns quicker, and his attacking threat on the overlap is nil, his ability to captain, to inspire and be a role model, is highly questionable. Perhaps GZ wanted to hold on to his experience as he is resigned to losing Matty Upson. Whatever, we must NEVER give in to his demands and degrade ourselves. In fact if he does decide to pick up the phone and call GZ when he realises what an amazing deal he is being offered, he should get told to foxtrot oscar.

A week later I was laid off from my job. I have’nt been able to find one since due to this recession. In my last job I was earning roughly half in a year of what you are being offered a week you greedy b*****d.

could it be that he wants to stay galatasary are offering a lot more money making it a difficult decision rather than an easy one for someone only interested in the money and lets face it he only joined west ham for the money but his outlook may have changed
I hope that he signs and is outstanding for us but if he goes I don’t really care
One thing I will say if he pulls on a west ham shirt this season he’ll get support from me

I think we should keep Deano. I don’t quite understand why he showed up to pre-season training either fat or really un-fit, or both?
Ashton is only 25, we should give him one-last-shot at staying fit. He is ***DIFFERENT CLASS*** to Carlton ***DIFFERENT CLASS*** And after Carlton, West Ham have Sears out on Loan and then Montano and Nouble – both who are kids and most likely couldn’t play each wk.
So why we’re shopping Deano around, when we literally have only one other senior striker at the entire club – I just don’t understand. It’s like a Pardew or Redknapp move – when they had one of their personal vendettas against someone, and then that’s it.
My other points are:
I don’t think Mario Balotell, Eidur Gudjohnsen or Luca Toni will arrive at West Ham. I just don’t have a vibe that Gudjohnsen will sign for us, I think he’ll stay and be a squad payer with Barca again. Plus he’s 31 in September. And even though Inter have lots of strikers, I just can’t see Balotelli joining us either – and Luca Toni? I think he’ll stay at Munich and wait for an injury or some kind of opportunity to get his spot back.
Carlton has come on alot, his link up play and touch have all improved in a huge way. But, he still isn’t that great in front of goal. He rarely strikes the ball clean and just isn’t intelligent or instinctive enough to work out in the split second that a chance arrives, on how to take it. Against the Beijing pub team – Carlton had one chance, the only way any player could score that chance – was to hit it first time, it was sitting there on the half volley low – ready to be hit. Carlton took an extra touch, and by the time he’d swung his leg back – the defender had blocked the space. Carlton also chooses to shoot at times when he’s being blocked by too many defenders, rather than pass. He just lacks the intelligence to make the right choice 8 times out of 10 in the box.
For me, that’s Carlton in a nut shell – he just isn’t clinical and lacks shot technique and shot selection.
This is why I believe we should give Deano ONE MORE CHANCE!

PS I wouldn’t give Lucas Neil £15K a week. He’s a 2-bit Hard-Man with no acceleration or pace what so ever. He just isn’t that good. I’d rather keep Faubert and play him at right back and maybe give Spence a shot too. Let Lucas go sign for some stupid Turkish team!
Zola got some things right, more than any of the last managers – but liking Lucas isn’t one of them.

I won’t add any more Lucas comments until such time as I can think of an alternative “XXXX turns quicker” simile.
As for Deano, Zola said on SSN the other day that Deano was part of his plans for this season. I can’t see him (or clarke) being dumb enough to hang the hopes for this season’s goals on Cole alone, so I tend to believe that he’ll be given his chance and that Pullis is just chancing his arm with his continued public tapping up of Deano.
Cole has improved (he couldn’t have got worse!) And works hard blah blah but he’s one dimensional, thick and toothless.
As a partner to a Bellamy type he’s passable.
But as a lone striker??
F**k me, I’ve seen Lucas Neil turn quicker!!

Well that’s one way of putting it!
You do make a good point with Deano/Zola/SC unless of course they are just saying that to bump the value?!
