Franco Secures Franco and Lucash Neil to Everton?

The big bit of news to arrive today is that after all the speculation we have finally secured the service of Guillermo Franco, incidentally the first ever Mexican to pull on a West Ham shirt. The news didn’t really come of much of a suprise to many of us, being that yesterday Franco posted what can only be descirbed as a very subtle hint to the move on his website.

Being perfectly honest, I’ve never seen the fella play. He has Champions League experience (as did, I believe, Tristan?) and had a decent goalscoring record before his move to Villareal. Hi goals to games ratio there wasn’t quite as good as his original club, so I’ve no expectations of him scoring 20 goals this year – but nonetheless the guy is clearly excited about the opportunity and will be fighting for his place in the Mexican World Cup squad,, which can only be a good thing for us

Here’s his comments on the Offical Site:

“I am really happy to sign for West Ham. It was my dream to come to the Premier League and I am proud to play for a club that has so much history. This is a very important stage in my career and I hope to score lots of goals for the club this season and then play at the World Cup. “This is an important team with great players and a great manager. I know that the club are very ambitious and want to do well. I want to do my best to make that happen and I am excited about the challenge”

Personally, I’m thinking it could work to be a good bit of business…at the very least he will provide us with an alternative up top, which we so desperately need at the minute.

In other news:

Lucash Neil is looking set to sign for Everton, or at least have a medical. I hope that the club and the fans of Everton are fully aware that they will be signing a player who puts in his best performances when he contract is about to expire. So don’t expect much for a while, apart from possibly the feeling of being financially raped by a ‘has been’.

  1. Guillermo Franco, hmmm ok welcome to the Hammers (who are ya who are ya) and thats just the home fans singing but we needed a striker and hopefully he can do the business.

Smurfing the web and his record is a bit hit and miss but erring to the hit by a smidge. Another DDM or another Illunga? time will tell for the club but lets all welcome him with open arms as us Hammers fans are not ones to be too judgemental against players.

Unless of course their favourite half time snack is double kebab and chips washed down with 2ltr bottle of coke.

as for Lucash, well hes only wanted because Everton are struggling and hes available, what does that tell you Lucash? People pay for skills not egos and greed.

  2. Bitter fans about Lucas. Not saying he is great, but WH fans where signing his praises when he played for you and when he joined you after rejecting Liverpool, now that he has left eveybody hates him.

TBH not arsed if we sign him or not, but its funny how views change when the player no longer plays for you.

    • Oh, I dunno about bitter.

I think we’ve just realised the sort of player he was…something we probably overlooked originally.

The guy held us to ransom over a new contract, and I don’t care how good he is, there’s no place for that in any football side.

That is why our opinion has changed – because his actions and behaviour has changed too.

Until he started chucking his toys out of the pram, many west ham fans still wanted him around

  3. Haha, as an Everton fan I like your assessment of Neill.

I’m not too enthrauled with the signing either. I don’t rate him as a player, and I remember very, very, dirty tackle which sidelined Mikel Arteta for months, back when Neill was at Blackburn.

Though with the injuries and suspensions we have, I suppose he’s better than nothing. Just.

  4. All i’m bothered about is how good this Lucas lad is. He has to be better than our fullback we have now. I love the Lucash tag. To be honest, i think David Moyes has got him sussed as he has only offered him a 1 year deal with the chance to extend it for another couple of years if all goes well. As for West Ham fans being bitter. I don’t think we should throw stones after what happened to us with the Lescott affair. After all, we’ve all had greedy mercenary’s leave our clubs. Its part of this shit modern game we all love. COYB
