Olympic Stadium: How Far Away Will We Sit?

Regular readers will know I have concerns about our proposed move to the Olympic Stadium. One of my really nagging frustrations is how far away from the pitch we will be.

Kindly provided by a user on Twitter, @simonjcole, here is a table outlining the distance from the pitch at the Olympic Stadium compared to other large football grounds in the country.

What are people’s thoughts now? My boss quite rightly pointed out that it won’t matter about the seats at the back because it will only be 2/3rds full anyway.

This again worries me

  1. Well the distances don’t look that great. But that’s not my main concern. I’m sure that we will be able to have a decent view in the new stadium but in my opinion the key measure for any football stadium is atmosphere.

The Boleyn Ground delivers a pretty good atmosphere (although it was better before the new West Stand) but my worry is that at the Olympice stadium we will be rattling around in a soulless arena that does not focus the noise and has no chance of producing an intimidating or exciting footballing venue.

As a side point I see that the proposed pitch dimensions in that diagram of 105m x 68m would make our new pitch the smallest in the Premier League by a long way. See here: http://www.funny-football.co.uk/news/premier-league-pitch-dimensions-2009-2010/

    • Hi The Olympic stadium Pitch sizes are in Metres and the ones in the list are in yards so the pitch is average…..

    • The table you referred to is in yards, but the dimensions given for the pitch in the new stadium are in metres, so actually the new pitch would be about 5 yards wider and longer than our existing pitch.
Still don’t like the distance from the seats to the pitch though.

  2. When you’re in the corner and have no cash to move out from that point, you would have to receive the business loans. Because that would aid you definitely. I get credit loan every time I need and feel myself good just because of that.

  3. Somewhere I have a pic taken from in front of a box/ back row of the stands, behind a goal, at the Emirates…. I’ll find it & share it. I thought it was a long way to the goal…
