I’m for the olympic stadium. But I sense the never satisfied hammers fans will find something to moan about. if its not our players its the kit if its not the kit its prices of tickets if its not that its the lack of atmosphere at the Boleyn. Be a real fan, support our club through good times and bad!
Gold, Sulivan, Brady have good business sense and seem to have the clubs best interests at heart. A move would help finacialy as for the atmosphere that is down to us the supporters. Look at the lazio, rome derby, that speaks volumes. Portsmouth basically had a dramatic catostrophic season where extinction was on the cards but the fans kept singing, keeping their spirits and the clubs spirits going!
We make our own luck we are responsible in supporting the mighty hammers! Come on you irons! Claret and blue through and through

You’re right the atmosphere is down to the supporters.
It worries me that there atmosphere currently isn’t as good generally as it has been in the past. Aside from the always brilliant BML and STBL.
I’m not sure how moving the fans further away from the action will improve this situation. It’s all very well looking at the Lazio/Rome derby but we can’t even sell out against Spurs at the moment. Or Chelsea. The Lazio/Rome game is an exceptional case where the history, politics and rivalry is deep rooted and instilled at birth.
For them, there will always be that passion and the atmosphere will be generated whatever the situation.
It helps of course, that they share a ground.
A better example would be to look at when Lazio or Roma play an ordinary side. Then see if it’s sold out and buzzing.

kieran, the stadium will be half empty, it will be shit, we want a purpose built stadium for around 50,000 max.. we cant sell out upton park for spurs and chelsea so whats the point of 60,000 and 50 metres from pitch, it will be like a library..
and for all you deluded fans out there, we will always struggle, we will never be challenging for major honours, we’re a mid size club at best, and current owners dont have enough money, simple as that…

Maybe thats why the Rome clubs have agreed to move to a new 40k stadium purpose built for foottball and away from the athletics track because the atmosphere is naff … which makes you ask why are we going in the oposite direction … if this is in the best interests of the club then why haven’t the board openly engaged with the fans ?

Looks to far from the pitch. I would’nt go. 30 years of going to the hammers will finish for me, already struggling with the prices and being so far from the action will kill it for me.

moving to olympic stadium is crazy, it will only be half full, we struggle to sell 33000 tickets….. we couldnt give away 20,000 tickets, we dont have that many fans..
if they truly loved west ham they would only take over stadium minus running track, without us the place would be a white elephant, we hold the cards, lets be honest who gives a shit about athletics..
if enough people were into athletics they wouldnt have a problem finding a use and wouldnt need outside help..
but if they truly, truly loved west ham, the would
A:consult what the fans wanted and
b:then they would build a rectangled stadium with steep sides….
west ham til i die
and for the record if they moved to olympic statdium i would go

Gave my season ticket up a few years back, after Brown tucked us up again.Don’t have enough fans ?
Oh, we have – believe me ! problem these days is it’s a lot of money to watch crap and West Ham have large working class support.Do you think Arsenal would fill the Emirates if they were struggling every season ? At least we have owners who seem to want us to perform on the pitch, but like everything these days it’s all about money & we need new Investment from outside to push forward.

i would hate to see a running track around the pitch, we would lose that interactive feel that you get at upton park, and even their i feel i could be closer to the action and i sit in row 4 of the Dr Martins stand lower, if you have the running track you might as well be at home watching it in front of the telly cos it will have the same effect, whu fans are passionate for sucess, but they have to play their part as the 12th man, and to do that they need to be up close a personal to the action to help put the other team off, if the running track stays then im sorry i will have no chioce but to become a arm chair fan cos i refuse to wear binoculars to watch my team play, even wembley feels to far from the pitch ? gold and sullivan go back to the table and sort this major issue out for the fans you claim to respect, personally i would like to see upton parks chicken run redeveloped plus box in the corners that would add to the capacity, the boleyn is sacred ground and i would miss it badly if we moved…… RIP.if we leave

I think Kieran that being a Season ticket holder (1 of approx 20000) qualifies me for being a ‘real’ fan. Season ticket holders in particular do support the Club through the good and the bad times. As such we are entitled to a voice and Sam’s survey reveals that only 30% of Season ticket holders are in favour of a move to the Olympic Stadium.
The Brady Bunch will need to fill a 60000 seat stadium but the survey results suggest that only 6000 of the current ‘real’ supporters may move across to Stratford.
You are correct in that the Brady Bunch have good business sense, which is sadly why they won’t and can’t care what attraction/sport fills those seats.
You are deluded however in beleiving this move is in the best interests of West Ham United F.C.
For that reason – I’m Out!!!

“real” supporter huh?? You “two bob” c*. Im in the states and don’t give a solitary f* if you are in England or not. Real supporters my sunburned arse. My entire family comes from the east end. We bleed claret and blue for YEARS!!! I didnt win the lottery and am able to move to London next week and buy a season ticket (which i would do on a heart beat) there f*!
So you can be “Out!!!” then.. a Move to the olympic stadium does suck with a track. But what if it gets worked out with no track. Do you not want your beloved team to move up? If not F* OFF?? Two Bob…..you said it all wiv yor name! do us a favo”u”r! You’re an idiot!

Shorty I think what twobob is replying to is that fact that originally Kieran called for people to be real fans and support the club through good and bad.
As a season ticket holder of 10 years plus I also find this quite offensive as clearly twobob also did – also a long term season ticket holder.
Twobob is accusing people who don’t go as not being real fans, he’s just coining the phrase that Kieran originally used by arguing that as a season ticket holder he has been through the good and the badand therefore constitutes as a “real fan” by way of Kieran’s description.
If that makes sense!

I’ve got family that for years were season ticket holders for West Ham then suddenly they couldn’t get them. When my dad died me and my older sister came back and wanted to go to a match. An uncle said ‘no chance, I can’t even get my season ticket and I’ve been getting one for 20 years’. He and other rellies went to every match no matter where West Ham were on the table, we used to save them a space for parking outside our house in Tudor Road. That’s true fans.
As for ‘no atmosphere’, I suppose the MCG has no atmosphere, I suppose where they had the Superbowl has no atmosphere. I watch cricket at Eden Park which is tiny (but bigger than Upton Park I found out) and no matter where I sit I can see the action and if I miss something there’s the big screen (which ain’t that big quite frankly). “Atmosphere” ain’t all about seeing what’s happening on the pitch every second. Otherwise World Cups would be toast.

To the West Ham Process…..Sorry for being a tad harsh….I understand if My post will not be posted. I just can’t take ignorance for opinion. I do enjoy the site and do read it from time to time. I respect the site but dont respect the punters what take the piss. Im sure you will moderate! Cheers!

The earlier posts that mentioned the 2 champions league finals with athletics tracks can’t really be taken as markers for a good atmosphere in a stadium with athletics tracks, they are champions league finals
But who watched the champions league this week? most of you i’d guess dunno how many caught the spartak moscow game played in a half full stadium with athletics track. the atmosphere sounded electric although they scored an early goal and ran out three nil winners in the end.
Which proves the point if they get their shit together on the pitch our fans will at least fill 80% of the stadium and make themselves heard providing ticket prices are lowered. not just for the kids tho for the rest of us long suffering fans

This is a pure and simple business venture with no loyalty to any fan. Daniel Levy has consulted the spuds at every oportunity, our board have run rough shod over us renaging on promises they made to the fans. In context there is a very small minority who would tollerate the athletics track but a massive majority that would accept the move without it. What worries me is the costs and the debts we will inherit … £190m to convert a stadium we won’t own? what happens to the Boleyn and monies there ? … The bottom line is Gollivan will carry on regardless .. business is business
